PREPARING AN EFFECTIVE INVESTIGATION REPORT Your Career Investigation Report should contain information that will convince the Admissions committee that you are serious about entrance into the Baking & Pastry Arts Program at SAIT. Learning about the Industry and Occupation: • Whom or what influenced you about this career choice? • Did you find out about the program through; friends, newspapers; televisions; school counselors and/or employer? • What kind of employment is available to you after you graduate? • What are working conditions like in this profession? • Where are jobs most likely to be located? • What skill do you expect to obtain? • What salary would you anticipate making when you graduate? • What is the future outlook for this type of career? Guideline to Writing Your Career Investigation: • Organize your information using heading, industry research, autobiographical information. • Dates and time of information sessions and/or companies you have been in contact with. • List the resources you used for your research. • Report any relative information that has convinced you that this is the career you want to pursue. • The report should be typewritten and have a professional appearance. • Aim for one or two pages in length. • Grammar and spelling should be checked for errors. • Information should be clear and precise. The Career Investigation Report is similar to a resume; it should detail information about you and your interest in the Baking & Pastry Arts Program. It should demonstrate your knowledge about the baking industry in general. The Career Investigation Report must accompany your resume and 2 letters of reference.
