As you read in your textbook, the first Islamic houses of worship were rehabbed from Christian churches. As the mosque came into its own right, the structure developed unique architectural elements that differentiated it from Jewish synagogues and Christian churches. The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with the elements of the Islamic mosque.

The attached chart is a schematic plan of a typical Islamic mosque.
