Applied Project: Genomic Sequence Characterization
You have recently sequenced a gene from mouse DNA. Your mission
now is to characterize the gene, mRNA, and protein product. In
order to characterize the sequence you must first find out if the
sequence, or any part of the sequence, is in the database. Do the
appropriate searches to identify the genomic sequence, map the
gene, and characterize the related mRNA and protein sequence(s).
When identifying SNPs, report on the 4 missense mutations
associated with this gene.
Do not cut and paste your database results to report your
findings. Write 2 -3 pages reporting the information you have
obtained about this DNA sequence. Imagine this is a report you will
present to an employer or a group of researchers interested in this
particular genomic sequence.
