Arabadopsis thaliana is a model plant used in genetics
and evolution. You have identified a mutational hotspot in a gene
which affects flowering time. You label the wildtype allele A1. A
synonymous mutation occurs at a frequency of 0.02,
resulting in allele A2. You start an experimental population which
initially ONLY contains adult plants with the A1A1
genotype.
a) Calculate the allele
frequency of A2 in the pollen.
b) Calculate the expected
genotype frequency of A1A2 in the next generation. For full credit,
show your work, and round to the nearest 0.01.
