Solution Paper First Draft Rubric
Purpose:
In this course, you will be focused on solving a major problem in educational systems or practices. The largest part of your grade will come from papers you will submit both to the instructor and to the thematic group of which you are a member.
This course will require a term writing assignment in the form of a Solution Paper. In this assignment, you must identify a problem in contemporary education and come up with a solution to it.
At this level, you are expected to convey your ideas in a cogent and coherent manner and to integrate course material with proper citation. An assessment of your paper’s organization, grammar and spelling will be included in its evaluation.
Guidelines:
All of the writing projects are intended to tie together including chapter quizzes from your textbook, reviewing another book, and interviewing people involved with education in order to come up with innovative solutions to one of the largest problems in contemporary education.
Each student will have the opportunity to work through a draft of their Solution Paper before the final submission with the help of their group members, the instructor, and a peer reviewer. An electronic copy should be uploaded by 11:59pm on the due date. The first draft of your Solution Paper will be worth 100 points, due April 23 and should be 8-10 pages in length (not including bibliography).
1. Why is it a problem? Define the parameters and meaning of the problem.
2. What has been said or done about this problem? Answer these questions by providing a review of relevant literature and the first-person account of the interview(s)
3. How do you propose to solve the problem? Explain why your solution would solve the problem and how it would overcome challenges that have prevented it’s solution in the past.
